VEK Tools respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and your rights. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you are in New Zealand, we also aim to follow the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What personal information we collect
We collect only what we need, depending on how you deal with us.
When you browse our website
- Technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at our site.
- Cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies" below).
- Search terms you enter, including in our site search and AI Tool Finder.
When you place an order or create an account
- Name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, and the items you order.
- Your payment is handled by our payment providers. We do not store your full card details.
- If you are a business customer: company name and ABN.
When you contact us or use our forms
- Your name, email address, phone number and the details of your enquiry.
When you submit a price match request
- Your name, email address, optional phone number, the product, the competitor's name, price and link, and any notes you add.
When you request a trade quote
- Your name, email address, phone number, company name and ABN, delivery suburb and postcode, whether a forklift is on site, your project timeline, any notes, and the contents of your cart. We use these to prepare your quote and may create a draft order and a customer record for you.
When you join our mailing list
- Your name and email address, and your marketing preferences.
We collect most information directly from you. We may also receive information from our service providers (for example, payment and delivery confirmations).
How we use your personal information
- To process and deliver your orders, take payments, and provide customer support.
- To review and respond to price match requests and trade quote requests.
- To verify business details such as your ABN for invoicing.
- To send order updates, quotes and service messages.
- To send marketing emails about products and offers, if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To improve our website, products and services, and to keep our site secure and prevent fraud.
- To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where needed to run our business, with:

Our store platform and website providers, including Shopify.

Payment providers, such as Stripe, PayPal, Afterpay, Shop Pay and Google Pay, to process your payment. They handle your payment details under their own privacy policies.

Delivery and freight providers, and our suppliers, when an order is delivered directly from a supplier's warehouse.

Marketing
We send marketing emails only to people who have opted in or where the law allows. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email info@vektools.com.au to opt out. We will still send necessary service messages, such as order confirmations and quote replies.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember preferences, understand how the site is used, and improve it. You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, but parts of the site may not work properly without them.
Security and how long we keep information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, using physical, electronic and managerial safeguards. We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. For example:
- Order and invoice records are kept for 7 years for tax and accounting reasons.
- Price match requests and trade quote requests are kept for 12 months unless they become an order or we need them for a dispute.
- Marketing details are kept until you unsubscribe.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.
If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by law.
Access and correction
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Email info@vektools.com.au. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days, and will tell you if we cannot give access and why.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at info@vektools.com.au, and we will investigate and reply. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC): www.oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992.
